Below is a listing of business practice initiatives aspenhome is actively engaged in:

Sourcing – No Rain Forest products are used in any lumbers or veneers. We follow the guidelines of the Lacey Act for guaranteed Rain Forest lumber regulations enforcement.

Product Design - aspenhome products are designed to deliver a value to customers and consumers, making the most of each dollar spent.

Product Development – We investigate new options in wood species that produce a desired look and have eco-benefits. Some of our newest collections are made of sustainable woods.  Origin, is created from sustainable Bamboo veneers, and Cross Country is made of sustainable Mango veneers. We will continue to research alternatives for future collections. Our finish suppliers are all currently inside all required standards according to worldwide consumer health standards. We have on file all Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for consumer inspection as required.

What makes Bamboo Sustainable?  An endlessly renewable resource, bamboo is actually a grass, not a tree. It grows quickly and does not need to be replanted due to its extensive root system. This root system also helps to stablize the surrounding environment by preventing erosion. Easily harvested and naturally renewing, bamboo is used in a variety of wood products.

What makes Mango Sustainable? Mango trees are huge trees that are initially grown for their fruit. The trees can reach 60 to 100 feet in height and can grow three to five feet in diameter. However, once the trees reach this size, they stop producing fruit. The farmers cut down these trees to make room for new mango trees that can produce fruit. Once the older trees are cut down, the mango wood is used for making wood products.

Marketing Collateral – Our product catalogs are printed on Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified paper. FSC certified paper ensures that the paper contains fiber from well-managed and responsibly harvested forests that meet strict environmental standards

Ethical Standards - All of our vendors have on file the Social Responsibility Standard forms as required by the World Trade Organization and the US requirements

Child Protective Safety Act We are in compliance with all the CPSIA requirements for lead contents in finish materials and compliant with the MSDS requirements for health and safety of finish materials and formaldehyde contents of particle board and MDF boards according to the CARB requirements. We also meet the tipping restraint requirements as set forward by the furniture council.
Required data is posted at: http://www.aspenhome.net/CPSIA

C.A.R.B. compliance – We are compliant with current enforcement and record keeping requirements and are on-track for complete C.A.R.B. compliance according to the Phase 2 standards as required by the California Air Resource Board.

Corporate Offices – Our Phoenix Corporate office incorporates paper recycling and energy-saving light fixtures and computer settings to reduce electricity during non-use times.

Transportation – Our new service provider for in-bound ocean freight, Knight Transportation, utilizes clean trucks and participates in the clean truck program to meet USEPA diesel emissions standards.

Warehouse – Warehouse systems and design help increase efficiency and whenever possible any damaged storage palettes are repaired for reuse to reduce waste.
